It has been another amazing week here at Madison. Our students and teachers have been working very hard and I am so impressed with the great discussions and ideas coming from our classrooms. Thank you to everyone who participated in our Madison Curriculum Night. We hope we provided a helpful overview of the year ahead!
MAP Testing: We will begin our first round of MAP testing for grades 2-5 during the week of September 14th-18th. Students will be assessed in both reading and math and this data will be used to help our teachers appropriately plan for instruction. Your child’s classroom teacher will be sharing specific testing dates and times. Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions.
All-School Meeting: Our first Madison All-School Meeting is all set for September 18th at 8:50 a.m. Please join us as we celebrate the beginning of the school year. Just make sure you sign in at the main office.
Leveled Literacy Library – resource for our teachers: Our teachers and specialists have been working diligently since the end of last school year to create a leveled literacy library to help our teachers focus on instruction and differentiation in the classroom. We are in the process of creating a data-base to allow for easy access to leveled books in order to help teach reading skills and strategies at students’ instructional reading levels. Our goal is for teachers to be able to easily access differentiated levels of materials in order to provide targeted reading instruction for all students. If you are interested in volunteering, we would love to have some extra hands to help organize the room and our database. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
