The Madison PTO has many committees that work to enhance our students learning, fundraise and build community. Descriptions of the committees are listed below.

After School Enrichment Partner with VP-Enrichment to assist with coordination of the various after school enrichment classes. Duties include: class research, communications, facilities requests and some on-site support throughout the school year.
Art Awareness presents various artists and art forms in the classroom, approximately three times a year
Artsonia assist in taking digital photos of student art work and then posting on Artsonia website in student galleries. Approximate time commitment 1 hour and 15 minutes per month
Book Fair Organize fair with vendor to raise money to purchase books, software, and DVD’s for student use, typically held in the fall
Chess Club Coordinate with vendor to run this after school enrichment club
Community Holiday Gifts Community Holiday Gifts (CHG) is the largest recurring community outreach program at Madison.  In partnership with HSC Family Services, Madison families fulfill the wish lists of dozens of children in our community.   CHG organizes this undertaking beginning in October, and delivers over 200 wrapped presents plus grocery gift cards the first Saturday in December.  Many volunteer opportunities are available on this committee depending on your interests, whether behind the scenes/administrative or working directly with students, HSC social workers, or recipient families.
Cultural Arts Manage the book sale that accompanies the Author Visit in coordination with the MRC Director, schedule/coordinate Wheel of Wisdom visit on last day of school
Our annual 3K community run that is followed by outdoor fun at Madison school, inflatables, games, pizza, hot dogs…
— Dash Organize the run portion of the Dash-n-Bash – including route and refreshments after the race
— Bash Coordinate the bash (formally Fall Festival) portion of the Dash-n-Bash – including food, inflatables, cookie walk, and teacher auction items
Directory work directly with the on-line company to help manage the process and distribute in September
Electronic Communications work directly with the PTO VP of Electronic Communications and assist in the development and management of the PTO website.  Edit the weekly eBlast (electronic newsletter)
Future Funds work with staff, principal and parents to create a spending plan for PTO raised funds
Gift Wrap or other Fundraising Event Organize the online gift wrap sale or other Fundraising Event as selected by the Executive Board.
Health and Safety oversee bike safety rodeo and coordinate other health and safety programs such as Walk to School Day, McGruff Houses and Robert Crown Programs
High Interest Day help to plan an afternoon of enrichment classes for all children
Historian creates a Madison School photo scrapbook for the current year to be displayed permanently at Madison and passed around during All School Meetings
Hospitality provide light refreshments for PTO hosted special events and meetings and plan teacher appreciation activities and recognizes staff birthdays monthly
Hot Lunch design and distribute order forms, select vendors, deliver and help serve hot lunches throughout the school year
House and Grounds develop and implement landscape plans for Madison and perform light landscaping/gardening work to maintain grounds.  Work with landscape companies when necessary.  Meet with D181 Buildings and Grounds Manager to discuss any improvements or issues
Junior Great Books coordinate/volunteer to lead book discussions with students during lunch
Kids Care Club a hands-on, activity -oriented club that demonstrates to students that is fun and rewarding to volunteer and help out our community
Local Fundraisers Coordinate fundraisers with local businesses (restaurants, grocers and retailers)
MRC/Learning Center The MRC coordinator works with the committee Chairperson on several areas annually.  First, creating and maintaining the MRC volunteer schedules on Sign Up Genius.  Second, volunteering in the MRC as convenient to your schedule. Third, managing the Visiting Author book sale and book signing (time of year TBD).
Make A Difference a committee comprised of faculty and parents with goals of addressing the social and interpersonal needs of our students; one parent member will also serve on the district SELAS committee
Mentors assists new Madison families in acclimating to both Madison and the Hinsdale community.  Provide new families with  “mentor” families with students in same grade when possible
Newspaper Club assists with a student-prepared school newspaper
No Cost Fundraising
promote online shopping sites as a tool to raise money for the PTO
Plant Sale coordinates our spring plant sale fundraiser
Publicity submit press releases of Madison events to local papers
Retirement Celebration plan and coordinate events and gifts for retiring staff members
Room Parent work with the teacher in your child’s classroom to organize holiday parties, field trip chaperones and other special events
School Supplies gather and compile student supply kit orders and distribute to classrooms just before the start of the school year. Handle ordering for the upcoming school year.
Season of Science coordinate a host of science activities including in-house science camps in January and the annual all school Science Fair in February
Spirit Wear gather and compile Madison spirit wear order and distribute apparel in the fall
Variety Show organizes and run the Madison student Variety Show in the spring
Yearbook gathers school group pictures and publishes the annual yearbook
Yoga Club coordinate and supervise a group yoga class with outside company
