Draw & Paint for Life

Draw & Paint for Life by Maureen Claffy is a screen-free STEAM program. This analog art program supports higher levels of mathematical reasoning by teaching an understanding of geometric shapes in space. It also supports emotional regulation and builds self-confidence and communication skills. The program adapts to the changing needs of young artist and is completely new every weekend. We turn geometric shapes into objects to capture children's imaginations while imparting technical drawing skills, using high-quality art supplies.

Session 1: Circle > Sphere, Oval > Cylinder
Session 2: Square > Cube, Rectangle > Rhomboid
Session 3: Ribbon, Triangle > Pyramid

All supplies are provided for classroom use and students receive a custom-printed ArtCard with the week's lesson. All teachers are personally selected by Maureen and fully trained in her method.

Classes kick-off on September 16th on Tuesdays from 3:05-4:15pm (session runs 10 weeks). An instructor will walk the children outside and make sure everyone is safely picked up for their return home. Sibling discount available. Sign up HERE.

The Bike Rodeo is for all Madison 3rd graders, and 4th or 5th graders (who are new to Madison or didn’t complete the rodeo in previous years) to earn their Bike License so they are able to safely ride their bike to and from school. This event is put on with the Hinsdale Police Department and run by parent volunteers. There are three time slots offered (3:30pm, 4:00pm, and 4:30pm), please register HERE

Family Instructions:
- Each student should arrive with an adult to assist in the process of getting the bike license.
- E-Bikes are not permitted.
- Each student should have the  Bike Registration Form filled out, printed, and signed. Printed copies will be sent home in the student’s home folder and can also be accessed here. Please bring completed form with you to the Bike Rodeo.
- Each student must have their own bike and helmet to participate.
- The event may take up to 30 minutes, so please plan accordingly.

Preparation for Students:
Prior to the Bike Rodeo, we ask that students watch these 2 videos:

Bicycle Safer Journey

The Bike Rodeo is such an important event that is held at the beginning of every school year, and we need parent volunteers to make it run smoothly. If you are able to help with this event, please sign up HERE.
